Absolutely fantastic!

I ordered the Chicken and Rice and some freeze-dried fruits, and they were incredible! So easy to prepare on the trail, and the taste was genuinely delicious. I couldn't believe how lightweight everything was too. I will definitely be shopping here again for my next trip. Highly recommend Outdoorpantry to all my hiking buddies!

Mostly good, one small issue

I ordered a few vegetarian backpacking meals and some energy bars for my hike last month. The quality of the food, especially the Pasta Primavera, was quite good; tasted better than expected for dehydrated meals. Shipping was quick, arrived in 4 days. My only minor gripe was that one of the energy bar wrappers had a small tear when it arrived, but the bar itself was fine. Overall, a positive experience and good value, but they could probably improve on packaging resilience a little.

Great value on meals

I was looking for some good deals on backpacking meals for an upcoming trip. Outdoorpantry had a good selection, and I qualified for free shipping on my order over $99. I got a bulk meal kit and felt like I saved a decent amount compared to other stores. The quality of the Pasta Primavera and the Instant Coffee was solid, definitely worth what I paid.

Solid choice for trail food

I decided to try Outdoorpantry for my last multiday hike. I ordered several items including the Breakfast Skillets, Chicken and Rice, and some electrolyte drink mixes. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. Everything was packaged well and arrived intact. Delivery took 6 days from when I placed the order. The meals rehydrated easily with hot water and tasted pretty good for trail food. The portion sizes were adequate for my needs, and the weight was definitely ultralight. I appreciate the variety of options they have, especially the gluten-free ones. No issues with quality or usability.

Reliable and consistent meals

This was my third order from Outdoorpantry. I got the Beef Stroganoff again and tried the Granola with Milk. Just like before, the quality was excellent. Shipping took about 5 days to reach Denver, which is typical. I keep coming back because their meals are always good for my backpacking trips, and I know what to expect.

My discount code isn't working at checkout, what gives?

N Neil E. 1 month ago
Is it a first-time user code? Sometimes those only work if you haven't ordered before with that email. Or maybe it expired?

Check if you're trying to use it with another deal, like a bundle discount. Most places only let you use one promo at a time. Also, sometimes it's case-sensitive, so double-check that too.

How fast is shipping generally? Need some stuff for a trip in about a week to California.

O Omar T. 1 month ago
For California, you're probably looking at 3-5 business days. Might be tight for a week if you order on a weekend.

I'm in Oregon and usually get my orders in 4-5 days. If you're ordering soon, you should be good, but maybe pay for expedited if you're really cutting it close.

Are their vegetarian meals actually good? Some brands just do bland pasta.

G Gwen Doyle 3 weeks ago
Their pasta primavera is solid! And the black bean bowl is surprisingly flavorful. Definitely not bland.

I'm not even vegetarian but I tried their vegan chili and it was really good. They definitely put effort into those options.

Thinking about trying them for a thru-hike. How do these compare to Mountain House? Always used MH before.

S Sarah N. 1 month ago
Outdoor Pantry is pretty good, I'd say they're definitely a step up from MH in terms of flavor and ingredients. A bit pricier sometimes though. I like their pasta primavera a lot more.

Yeah, MH is fine but Outdoor Pantry has more interesting options, especially if you're looking for vegan or gluten-free. Calorie count can be a little different too, so compare those for your needs.

Does anyone know if they ship to Canada? Or is it US only?

D Derek 3 weeks ago
Pretty sure they do! I've seen Canadian friends order from there. Might be extra shipping costs though.

Yes, they ship to Canada! Just plug in your address at checkout and it'll show you the shipping options and cost. I think it took a bit longer than domestic US shipping, but totally doable.
